Follow our dwarf tomato variety live at the Autonomous Greenhouse Challenge

The Autonomous Greenhouse Challenge is in full swing. The competition started with more than 20 teams, consisting of participants from all over the world. After the first phase, five teams have advanced to the next phase, where they will remotely and autonomously grow a dwarf tomato crop. The crop they are using in this phase is our own dwarf tomato variety 'Cherry Tomato Red F1 1284'.

The final five teams have been assigned their own greenhouse compartments at WUR’s greenhouse facility in Bleiswijk. Here, they can grow the crop remotely and autonomously using technology provided by WUR and event sponsors. On September 2, the teams started remote cultivation. They have until December 15 to put their skills into practice. The team with the highest yield, the best quality, and the most sustainable use of resources, such as water and energy, will win the competition.

On the 16th of january 2025, the winning team will be announced by the jury during the closing event.
